How To Find The Command Prompt In Windows 8

Getting to the command prompt in Windows 8 is different but the list of commands available is like to that for Windows seven. Some commands for Windows 8 and a brief explanation of their functions are given. The give-and-take applies to the Consumer Preview version of Windows 8.

How to open the command prompt in Windows eight

In Windows eight, the command prompt itself looks the same equally in previous Windows only getting there is different. The user interface in Windows 8 has been inverse substantially. Hither is one way to open the command prompt. On the Start screen, click the "Windows Explorer" icon. In the Libraries window that opens, click the "File" menu. The File carte du jour contains an entry "Open command prompt". Placing the mouse at that place gives a fly-out with the choice of a regular command prompt or ane run with ambassador privileges. Figure 1 illustrates the menu.

One of the bugs in the beta version seems to be that this entry for the command prompt sometimes gets greyed out. Some other road to the command prompt is to identify the mouse on the bottom-left corner of the screen and right-click the tile that pops up. The context menu contains an entry both for the regular command line and for the commannd line run as ambassador.

Another way to the command prompt will be familiar. Utilise the keyboard shortcut Winkey+R to open the Run line and and then enter "cmd" (without quotes).

One time the command shell is open up, it looks pretty similar to previous versions.
